Paris Day One Morning

Another dream come true for Jas, a visit to Paris, the City of Lights...
First day, early morning from Brussels to Paris with the Thalis TGV train. Afternoon walk along the Seine and see the Notre Dame and of course The Louvre Museum.

Gare du nord
Gare du nord

Arriving at the Nord station arround 10AM. The Paris Nord Train Station (Gare du Nord) was originally built in 1846. Shortly after, it was rebuilt three times to increase the size of the station due to increasing traffic. The new and improved station was fully functional by 1864. The name was decided with the notion that travelers would be able to travel to Belgium, the Netherlands, Northern Germany and the Scandinavian countries.

And of course that is just what happened, and with the ever-growing high-speed rail network, more and more destinations are reachable from the Paris Nord Train Station.

Rue du audourg-St-Denis

Walking from the Nord station to the Holiday Inn Hotel. The street is typical for most of Paris; lined both sides with buildings having an avarage 5 to 7 floors and rooftops with build-in capel windows

The stylish Holiday Inn Paris Gare De L'Est is rated 4 stars and features 207 rooms and subtly combines a typically Parisian atmosphere with contemporary decoration. The building dates back to the early 20th century and was renovated in 2008.

After check-in and a quick wash-up, we were off to our first tour
